PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — Readers are Leaders are holding their official opening ceremony for the 2015-2016 term today, Thursday, the 24th of September, from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the library.
Readers are Leaders is a program for teenagers which encourages them to read a minimum of seven books and gives them a chance to win great prizes. All teenagers are encouraged to come in and join. Not only will you be encouraged to read, but you can also take part in the Readers are Leaders poetry evening, its St. Maarten day celebration, the Black History Month ceremony and more. At these events you will get a chance to showcase your talents in the areas of poetry, song and dance.
The prizes that can be won for reading and performances include tablets, cellular phones, USB sticks and laptops.
For the opening ceremony there will be a musical performance by popular artists Elemental Jedi Crew and dance. Pizza will be on sale. For any questions about the Readers are Leaders event, please contact Maryland Powell at telephone number 542 2970.
