WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao – Curaçao Customs Sports Foundation in commemoration of International Women’s Day held an empowerment event for female customs officers using the international topic: “Be bold for change.”

There are 49 female customs officers in the Curaçao Customs Service and 143 male officers.

The morning started with a spiritual word by pastor Curtis Meris, who in his unique way told those present to not only celebrate International Women’s Day, but remember, understand and honor the women in the United States who lost their lives when they stood up for their fundamental rights.

Chief of Customs Post Punda Etienne Caciano congratulated his female colleagues on their day and wished them all a beneficial day. Head of Customs in Curaçao Jules Ilario encouraged all participants to be bold for change.

The following workshop was facilitated by Reyna Joe and Alba Chatlein LLM, who respectively handled how to be bold in life and in one’s career, and the legal aspects in a woman’s life.
