Car splits in two after crash in Rotterdam; 20-year-old man from Capelle dies
THE NETHERLANDS – The driver—a 20-year-old man from Capelle aan den IJssel—died following a car crash on Prins Alexanderlaan in Rotterdam during the night from Wednesday to Thursday.
Two other men from Capelle, aged 19 and 21, were injured. The wreckage is extensive; the car snapped in two. Tire marks stretching for dozens of meters are visible on the road surface.
Police report that no other road users were involved in the accident. Emergency services were alerted around 3:45 a.m.
The car veered off the road and struck a tree just before the intersection with Prins Constantijnweg.
The injured men have been taken to the hospital.
Flowers have been laid at the scene of the accident, and people are pausing to reflect on the tragedy that unfolded there.
