Newton –Herbert & Lloyd led their teams to victory with huge games in Ladies Basketball Championship

The first game between Bush T Remedy and Lightning begun at 3pm and was a very close game in the first half despite Lightning leading 32-24 at the half. Lightning blew the game open in the third quarter by outscoring Bush T Remedy 17-6 and pushed their lead to 49-30 and never looked back.

Lightning won 67-44 and was led by player of the game Jamaiah Newton –Herbert with 20 points, 20 rebounds, 8 steals, 3 blocks, 3 assists and Selah Fleming with 16 Points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal. Bush T Remedy was led by 3 players Latoya Lake with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, Jacqueline Hodge with 10 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks and Tamika Grell with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

The second game of the afternoon between Thunderz and Learning Unlimited was competitive as well as Thunderz led 28-21 at the half. They continued to keep the lead in the second half and won the game 50-38.

Thunderz was lead by player of the game Joyette Lloyd with 28 points, 21 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists and 1 block and Chantel Hodge with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 assists and 1 block. Learning Unlimited was led by Rachael de Groot with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 8 steals and Wendy Jack with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.

Games continue this Sunday for the U16 teams as their games are between 2-3pm, all three teams will play during this time. The senior teams will start at 3pm as Thunderz take on Lightning and at 5pm Bush T Remedy take on Learning Unlimited. Entrance fee is $1 and food and drinks are on sale, so see you next Sunday!!

Standings for the U16 Divison are Learning Unlimited, Lightning and Thunderz each at 1-1.The senior division are Thunderz & Lightning at 2-0 and Bush T Remedy and Learning Unlimited at 0-2.
