Hit and Runs
Sint Eustatius — On Sunday, the 23th of August, around 6:45 PM, a hit and run took place on Dr. H.A. Korthalsweg on Sint Eustatius. A scooter carrying two riders, presumably minors, collided with a car that was turning left onto L.E. Saddler Road at that moment. After the collision, the scooter drove off.
On Saturday, the 22th of August, around 6:35 PM, the central control room received a report of a hit and run on Charles A. Woodley Road on Sint Eustatius, near a supermarket. A car collided a minor on a fatbike and subsequently drove off. The minor was injured in the collision and was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.
The police request anyone who saw or heard anything, or who has more information regarding these two hit and runs, to report to the police station or call +599 318 2333.
The investigation into these matters is ongoing.
Planned Traffic Contro
Sint Eustatius — In the early evening hours of Saturday, the 22th of August, a planned traffic control was held on Father van Tefelenweg and Van Tonningenweg on Sint Eustatius.
A total of seventeen(17) vehicles were checked, including cars and scooters.
Two fines were issued for driving without paid road tax and one for driving without a helmet. Official reports were drawn up for these offenses.
The traffic controls will continue.
