Arrest driving under the influence
On Saturday, the 22nd of March, around 1:40 AM, a 43-year-old man with initials J.L.J. was arrested in a parking lot on the Cornelius Van Zanten road on St. Eustatius for driving under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was involved in a collision where he collided with a parked car while reversing.
In accordance with the ‘botsen is blazen’ policy, a breathalyzer test was administered, which revealed that the suspect had consumed more than the permitted amount of alcohol.
He was immediately arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and taken to the police station for a breath test. Following the result, his driver’s license was confiscated.
Arrest violation Firearms Act BES
In the evening hours of Wednesday, the 19th of March, police received reports of a man believed to be in possession of a firearm. Upon this, the arrest team entered a residence on Amerellys Road on Saba and at approximately 9:40 PM, apprehended a 32-year-old man with the initials I.D.R. for violation of the BES Arms and Firearms Act.
During the search, two firearms were found which were later found to be fake. In addition, a number of items relevant to the investigation were seized. The case is under investigation.
The Dutch Caribbean Police Force (KPCN) emphasizes that reports regarding firearms are taken very seriously and lead to immediate action by the police to ensure the safety of the community.
