Toddler dies in violent incident

Retreat Estate, Sint Maarten (KPS) — Patrol officers, paramedics, Detectives and Forensic department on Sunday January 13th at approximately 10.20 a.m. were directed to Passion Fruit road in Retreat Estate to investigate a serious incident in which a toddler and several other persons were injured.

On the scene the investigating officers learnt that the driver of a small white private vehicle had driven this vehicle into a group of young men that were at the entrance of a home. Included in this group was the toddler of approximately 3 years. As a result of the action by the driver of the small white vehicle the toddler died of the injuries he sustained and three other persons were taken to the Sint Maarten Medical center to be treated for injuries they sustained.

The scene had been closed off by the investigating officers for the Detectives to speak to potential witnesses and for the Forensic investigators to evidence.

It is still very unclear why this incident happened and there are many rumors going around in the community and on Social Media to the cause of the incident. This case at this time is being treated a criminal investigation.

Two suspects in this case have voluntarily turned them selves in to investigators at the Philipsburg Police Station where they remain in custody pending further investigation. More details to this case at this time are unavailable. As soon as these become available the media will be informed

*In the News* BREAKING NEWS Neighborhood beef leads to death of 2 year old boy St. Peters is all shook up at the tragic death of a 2 year old boy, who is said to be turning 3 tomorrow. The incident occurred sometime around 10:30am this Sunday morning. Apparently, a feud between a group of boys led to a situation where one group attempted to ram one of the other group of boys with their car. A young fellow barely managed to jump over a wall, badly scrapping his body and injuring his leg. In the heat of the attack, the little 2yr old boy who was playing on his toy truck on the side of road was rammed by the car. The child was instantly killed on the spot – as, according to eyewitnesses, his neck was severely injured and badly broken. The boys in the car including the driver was seen running away holding a baseball bat. According to another person standing by, when the car missed the first fellow, it was seen backing back and ramming forward again. That is apparently when the child, who is said to be the son of one of the boys, was killed. The mother of child was said to be at work at the time. The first police officers who arrived on the scene got very emotional at the sight of the body of the little boy. A female police officer broke down and had to be taken away. At least three ambulances were on the scene to take away two of the injured boys and a hearse was said to be on its way for the body of the child. Police officers, including several community police officers are on the scene. Police Chief Carl John also arrived on the scene as detectives were already busy with their investigation.
