Basseterre, St. Kitts,  – WINNFM is reporting that the body of the 26-year-old Phillips villager, murdered early Friday morning had gunshot wounds.
Although no police statement was issued on the second murder incident in which three people were killed within 24 hours, WINN said the body was found by the housing project in Phillips’. The deceased was identified as Mikelton Tyson.
“The young man’s body was discovered in the early morning, near the roadway, less than 50 meters from his home, with gunshot wounds,” the news report said.
Neighbours reported hearing several gunshots earlier, just after midnight on Thursday night, but only became aware of a victim just before sunrise on Friday.
Tyson, the nation’s fifth and possibly sixth murder victim for 2018, reportedly worked as a security guard at the Joshua Obediah Williams Primary School in Molineux.
He was killed early Friday morning, less than 24 hours after two sisters, 18-year-old Naomi Finch Jammyliah Finch, 21 were hacked to death in Keys Village on Thursday afternoon,
The Federation’s first murder victim was 19- year-old Cleon Browne who was gunned down in a hail of bullets as he walked along the road in Ra
On January 21, the body of 45-year-old Shirley Dawn Morton of Hanley’s Road was discovered in a house owned by her boyfriend, Wayne “Spyer”Chapman in Buck’s Hill, Gingerland on January 21. Cause of death was multiple blunt force traumas to the head causing brain injury. She was murder victim number two.
Twenty-three-year-old Shaquille Pemberton is believed to be the third murder victim and first for St. Kitts, although the results of a second autopsy have not been made public by the police.
Pemberton’s body was found on January 27 in bushes in the Gillard Meadows area. The first police statement that evening said the body “appears to have injuries to the chest.”
An autopsy on February 3 by Trinidad-based forensic pathologist Dr. Valery Alexandrov concluded that death was due to natural causes.
That conclusion sparked widespread public outcry and accusations of a cover-up.
Three days later, police said the pathologist revised his ruling, saying while Pemberton’s death was, in part, due to respiratory failure brought on by a viral infection of the heart, he is of the view that there are other inconsistencies surrounding the manner or mode of death that merited further investigation.
The Russian-born Alexandrov said in light of results of further laboratory tests that were conducted in Trinidad, the method of death is now undetermined.
That development further intensified public claims that Shaquille had in fact met with foul play and calls for a second autopsy.
The result of a second autopsy, if carried out, has not been made public by the police.
Sisters Naomi Finch and Jammyliah Finch are murder victims number four and five respectively.
Mikelton Tyson is murder victim number six.
