Dr. Jay Haviser of the St. Maarten Archaeological Center (SIMARC) gladly accepts a $200 donation from local eco-tour company Seagrape Tours. Seagrape Tours is grateful for the renovations that were carried out in 2016, at Fort Amsterdam under SIMARC’s supervision.
“SIMARC does wonderful work for our local heritage, I love the fact that Dr. Haviser involves the youth in his work as well. The youth group even helped re-painting the cannons at the fort,” said owner of Seagrape Tours Ilja Botha.
Seagrape Tours visits Fort Amsterdam at least once a week during their History Tour.
Each year Seagrape Tours donates $2 per guest to conservation efforts on St. Maarten. SIMARC is one of the four beneficiaries for 2016.Â
