PHILIPSBURG – The Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle takes their commitment to their community and having fun seriously, and therefore need to take being healthy seriously. To advise them on how to achieve this, they invited Physical Therapist Michael Benjamin PT and his assistant Frensis Bulo to their weekly meeting.

Benjamin is a physical therapist as well as Managing Director STS, WIPTA board member, Lecturer/instruction at USM, Aquatic therapy/fitness at Carib Swim Team, SMSOF member/medical team and “Shoot Hoops not Guns” partner.

Benjamin explained that everyone needs to do some sort of physical activity to stay healthy. The members were informed about the existing statistics that show the correlation of physical exercise and health. He explained that regular exercise includes walking, swimming, stair climbing, cycling, yard work, stretching, yoga, walking the dog, dancing during commercials and even standing on one leg while brushing teeth.

Benjamin’s assistant, an intern from Holland Bulo, explained that enjoying a massage gives the added benefits of loosening up tense muscle, stress management, balancing energy and helping blood circulation. There are various types of massages to suit everyone.

The Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle meets Tuesdays at 7:00pm at Mary’s Boone in Simpson Bay. For more information contact: rotarysxm.mi@gmail.com or visit their Facebook page: Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle.
