ORANJESTAD, St. Eustatius – The Democratic Party (DP), established in 1949 is the oldest party in St. Eustatius.

“With the many years of experience, the DP feels it important to constantly evolve and rejuvenate in order to be able to relate to the demands and expectations of our constituents of this modern age,” DP said in a statement.

The party therefore is holding a general membership meeting with the main topic being the presentation of the party manifesto 2016. This manifesto is not meant as an election program, but rather as a much longer lasting basis and ideology for the functioning of the party whether in government or in opposition.

The keynote address will be delivered by party leader and island council member Adelka Spanner. There will also be a raffle where the winner will receive six months of groceries worth US $100 per month.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, September 8, in the Ernest van Putten Youth Center, also known as the Lion’s Den at 7:00pm.

All party members, supporters and well-wishers are invited to attend. After the meeting there will be some snacks and refreshments.
