POLICE INVESTIGATE SINGLE CAR CRASH – SOUTH DOCK ROAD

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a single car crash on South Dock Road.

Shortly after midnight on Saturday 18 July 2015, emergency services were called to South Dock Road, following reports of a single car crash.

Initial investigations suggest a Dodge Durango, being driven by a man believed to be aged in his 20s, left the roadway in the vicinity of Bar Walkin’s gas station and crashed into a power pole.

The driver and only occupant of the car sustained minor injuries following the crash. He was conveyed to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre where he was treated for his injuries and later released.

A crime scene was established and investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.

Officers of the Royal Turks & Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) have arrested and charged a number of persons for various offences during the weekend are as follows:  

1). 52 year old Thorbon Prospere of North Back Salina Grand Turk was arrested and charged for Burglary. This charge stems from a report that was made on Friday 17th July 2015. He remains in Police Custody.

2). 35 year old Chandra Hamilton and 31year old Kinardo Penn of South Back Salina was arrested and charged for Possession of Controlled Drugs namely Cannabis. The charges are in connection to a search warrant that was executed at the home of both persons where officers found suspected Cannabis. Both persons were later bailed for their appearance at the Grand Turk Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 21st July 2015.

3). 41 year old Rashawn Astwood of Over Back Grand Turk was arrested and charged for Possession of Controlled Drugs namely Cannabis. The charges were laid on the accused after officers executed a Search Warrant at his home and found 54.0grams (Street value of $540) of suspected Cannabis. He was bailed and is expected at the Grand Turk Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Tuesday 21st July 2015).

4). 21 year old William Richard Penn Jr of the Bight Providenciales was arrested and charged for Possession of Controlled Drugs namely Cannabis. The charged was laid after officers found 27.0grams (Street value of $270) of suspected Cannabis in his possession. He is presently in Police Custody awaiting a surety to sign his bail for his appearance to the Providenciales Magistrate’s Court #1 on Thursday 23rd July 2015.
