Anguilla Election Observer Mission issues preliminary report

AXA election committee anguillaUK – Friday 24 April 2015 – In its capacity as the Secretariat for the CPA British Islands and Mediterranean, CPA UK organised an Election Observer Mission (EOM) to Anguilla for its general election which took place on 22 April 2015. The Mission was present in Anguilla from 12 April 2015 meeting relevant stakeholders and observing electoral processes following an invitation from HE Christina Scott, Governor of Anguilla.

The Mission was led by Hon. Mario Galea MP, Member of Parliament from Malta. In total the EOM deployed six observers including a parliamentarian from the Turks & Caicos Islands, Hon. Sharlene L. Cartwright Robinson MP; Ms Shivonne White, Registering Officer for Montserrat; Election Analysts Andrew Bruce and Mark Stevens; and one Election Coordinator, Matthew Salik to assess the electoral process in accordance with international standards for elections as well as the laws of Anguilla.

The Mission has now published its preliminary report (below). A final report will follow, which will include some additional observations as well as a number of recommendations for deliberation.
