KPSM Announces Road-Clearing Project on Suckergarden Road and Oysterpond Road

74

SINT MAARTEN — The Korps Politie Sint Maarten (KPSM), in collaboration with the Ministry of VROMI and several private-sector partners, will conduct a road-clearing and cleanup project on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from approximately 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

The project will focus on the removal of hardened concrete and other material that has accumulated on sections of Suckergarden Road, particularly in the vicinity of Golden Barrel Cactus Drive, as well as Oysterpond Road in the vicinity of Oyster Bay Resort.

Concrete spillage from vehicles transporting construction materials can create uneven and potentially hazardous road conditions, particularly for scooter and motorcycle riders. The cleanup initiative forms part of KPSM’s continued commitment to improving road safety on Sint Maarten.

During the work, barricades and police personnel will be positioned at:

  • Suckergarden Road at the entrance to Arch Road
  • Suckergarden Road in the vicinity of Defiance Road

Two trucks and a road-cleaning crew will be working in the area. Traffic may be slowed or temporarily stopped to ensure the safety of both road users and the workers.

Motorists are advised to reduce their speed, follow the instructions of authorized traffic personnel, and use alternative routes where possible.

KPSM thanks the public for its patience and cooperation while this important road safety work is being carried out.
