UPDATE: SUSPECT REMANDED TO HMP IN CONNECTION WITH DEATH OF ROMAINE OVARDO CARBY

The Valley, Anguilla –– The Royal Anguilla Police Force advises that Krishna Baijnauth, a 49-year-old resident of George Hill, who is charged with Murder and Arson in connection with the death of Romaine Ovardo Carby, appeared before the Magistrate’s Court and was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison yesterday, 12 January 2026.

The incident involving Romaine Ovardo Carby, a 37-year-old Jamaican national of South Hill, occurred on Wednesday, 7 January 2026, in the Bad Cox area.

The public is reminded that:

  1. a) The defendant is entitled to a fair trial;
  2. b) There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty;
  3. c) Nothing would be stated or published which would prejudice a fair trial taking place;
  4. d) Section 116 (g) of the Criminal Code applies and which provides for an offence in respect of any person who, while a judicial proceeding is pending, makes use of any speech or writing misrepresenting such proceeding or capable of prejudicing any person in favor of or against any parties to such proceeding, or calculated to lower the authority of any person before whom the proceeding is to be held.
