BONAIRE – The incident in which a police officer’s vehicle was shot at is a grave matter. The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) is taking this incident very seriously. The investigation is currently in its initial stage and is being carried out thoroughly and decisively.
Violence, threats, and intimidation against police officers are completely unacceptable. Our officers must be able to do their work safely, without being threatened, intimidated, or attacked. KPCN stands firmly behind its personnel and remains fully committed to their safety and protection.
We will not tolerate intimidation. We will continue to act professionally, decisively and united, carrying out what is expected of us: to serve and protect our community.
Illegal firearms pose a direct threat to the safety of our community. The illegal possession and use of firearms, as well as the use of firearms to threaten others, are matters we take very seriously. We will take firm action against this. KPCN remains dedicated to locating illegal firearms and removing them from the streets.
As Chief of Police, I want to leave no room for misunderstanding: anyone who uses violence against our personnel, threatens them, or attempts to intimidate them will not cause us to back down. We will continue to do our work and, within the boundaries of the law, take firm action against those who cross this line.
