Three suspects arrested in attempted car theft

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — Three male suspects identified with initials B.S. (19), D.A.R.S. (20) and I.I. (24) were arrested by police on Friday April 5th at approximately 03.25 A.M. on the Airport road after they were seen by the security officer on duty driving very suspiciously in a Hyundai Accent with license-plate M-12014 in Jordan Village in Cupe Coy.

The security officer immediately notified police when the suspects left the area at high speed after been seen. The suspects were stopped by police on the Airport Boulevard for control. None of the suspects could properly identify themselves. The suspects could also not give an acceptable account of what they were doing in Jordan Village at the time.

While controlling the vehicle the investigating officers found two on-board computers for cars and a vehicle master-key which are used for the stealing of cars. Also in the vehicles were a number of tools used to commit car theft.

All suspects were arrested on the spot and taken to the Police Head Quarters where they are held for questioning. The Hyundai Accent with license-plate M-12014 and items found in the vehicle were all confiscated for further investigation.
