PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The Public Prosecutor’s Office today, May 24th, 2018, requested the Enterprise Division of the Court to investigate possible maladministration within the Port St. Maarten Group of Companies.
The Public Prosector’s Office believes that, on the basis of a preliminary investigation, there is sufficient reason to doubt proper management within the Port.
St. Maarten Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications Cornelius de Weever was also heard in court today. He opposed the request from the Public Prosecutor’s Office on behalf of country St. Maarten and supported the Port’s position.
The court will give its decision on the inquiry request on June 26th, 2018.
