PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — At 5:00pm, Hurricane Irma became a Category-3 (aka Major Hurricane) with winds of 115 mph (185 km/h), and its center was located at 17.3N, 34.8W (1740 miles East of St. Maarten).
It is moving generally west @ 12 mph (19 km/h) for the next couple of days…and fluctuations in strength (both up and down) are possible — but Irma is expected to remain a powerful hurricane for several days!
According to its projected path, Irma could possibly reach near or just north of the SSS Islands (St. Maarten-Saba-St. Eustatius) by Wednesday — as an Extremely DANGEROUS Hurricane (Cat-3/Cat-4)!!!
