Ministry VROMI concerned about Illegal Trash Dumping Causing an Eyesore in Communities

2008

GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) – Ministry of Public Housing, Environment, Spatial Development and Infrastructure (Ministry VROMI), is concerned about illegal trash dumping that has seen in several neighbourhoods.  This is becoming an eyesore in several communities.

Ministry VROMI’s Infrastructure Management Department Head, Claudius Buncamper, has expressed his displeasure with the dumping of illegal garbage at waste bins meant for household disposal activities.

Persons are exercising unacceptable behaviours that are causing a pile up of waste at public areas which set unwanted precedencies, Buncamper stated on Tuesday.

Mr. Buncamper added, “Every time these areas are cleaned, another culprit exercises this type of poor example by disposing of their illegal waste in bulk, not even in the bin, but on the ground and surrounding areas. This is unacceptable and our residents have got to set a better example.”

The Ministry continues to urge persons to dispose of large waste items such as stoves and couches as well as outdoor debris being large branches etc. at the sanitary landfill.
