Police sends warning to Business community

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The Police Fraud Department is presently investigating several reports of an unknown person or groups of persons that are presently trying to purchase items with the use of false or counterfeit U.S. $100, 00 bills or having these bills exchanged into another currency.

Several of these bills have been intercepted at different businesses on the Dutch side of the island.

The Police Department is sending out this “WARNING” to the entire community and in particular all businesses that they should be very cautious when accepting $ 100, 00 bills.

If they are not sure the bill is legitimate, they should have it checked. If one should encounter a false or counterfeit bill, they should immediately get in contact with the police department.

It is more than one month, that the owner/driver of the white jeep, without a license plate shown in this picture has abandoned this vehicle, on the side of the road, on the Airport Boulevard.

This vehicle is posing quite a lot of danger to traffic in general on that road.

The police department is therefore requesting the owner of this vehicle to have it removed within 48 hours.

If not, the vehicle will be towed away at the expense of the owner.
