640x360 Joint Prosecutor and Police KPSPHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — On April 22, two suspects were arrested for chain snatching. During the morning on that same day, there was a failed attempt, and in the afternoon on that same day, the police bike patrol saw the snatching of a chain by three young men matching the description of the suspects involved in the morning incident.

Both incidents occurred in the area of Front and Back Street and Cannegieter Street. Police reacted quickly and were able to arrest two of the three suspects. One suspect tried to dispose of the chain by throwing it away, but it was confiscated.

Although the bike patrol returned to look for the victim, he was nowhere to be found and never came to the Police Station to claim his chain. The Prosecutor’s Office and the investigating team would like to return the chain to its rightful owner.

Police are asking that this person get in contact with the Police Department in order to file an official complaint. He will also be asked to give a description of the chain.

The investigation is ongoing, since the third suspect has not yet been captured. The two suspects that were arrested are still in custody, and on Monday, May 16, the Judge of Instruction granted a request for their detention to be extended by another 60 days. The court case is planned for June 29.
