Motorist shot at in the area of Sandy Ground Round About

The Royal Anguilla Police Force on Sunday 6th September, 2015 at 2:20 am responded to a report of gun shots being fired on a motorist in the area of the Sandy Ground/South Hill Round About.

Officers responded and spoke to the alleged victim who indicated whilst driving in the area along with three passengers in his motor vehicle it was shot at by unknown assailants in another vehicle who fled quickly after.  It is believed that the said assailants may have been following them for some time.

Officers at the scene observed damage to the victim’s vehicle and forensic evidence confirmed that the damage was caused by a firearm.

As the Police continues investigation into this matter they are appealing to members of the public who may have been in the area of the Sandy Ground/South Hill Round About and may have witnessed this shooting incident or have any information regarding this shooting to contact the Valley Police Station with such information.  The telephone number is 497-2333 and asks for the Criminal Investigation Department or to speak to any Police Officer of their choice.

Police Arrest three teenagers for burglary

The Royal Anguilla Police Force on Wednesday 2nd September, 2015 arrested three males ages of 14to17years old for burglary.

The arrest of the three came as a result of investigations by the Criminal Investigation Department into two burglaries which occurred on the 28th August, 2015 in the Swing High and Little Harbour villages respectively.

During those burglaries the offenders made off with two (2) wallets, a pair of binocular, a cellular phone battery as well as a flash drive in the first instance and a four wheeler with helmet and a bicycle in the second.

The trio were taken before the Magistrate’s Court where they were all granted bail in the sum of EC$50,000.00 each with one surety each and bound over to appear before the court again on Wednesday 16th December, 2015 to answer to the charges.

Teenager arrested for Taking of Conveyance, Driving without License and Driving when not covered by a policy of insurance

The Royal Anguilla Police Force on Sunday 6th September, 2015 arrested and charged a 17 year old male from Long Ground for taking a vehicle without the consent of the owner, driving without a driver’s license and driving when not covered by a policy of insurance.

The arrest which occurred at 4:30 am on the Water Swamp Main Road was as a result of a routine traffic check.  It was discovered that the offender did not possess a driver’s license neither was he covered by a policy of insurance.  Further investigation by the arresting officer revealed that the offender did not have permission to drive the said vehicle.

The offender was taken before the Magistrate’s Court today Monday 7th September, 2015 where he pled guilty to all three offences and was charged EC$3,500.00.   On the charge of driving without a license he was fined EC$500.00, on the charge of driving when not covered by a policy of insurance he was fined EC$3,000.00 and he was reprimanded and discharged on the charge of driving without the consent of the owner.
