GRENADA –– The Seismic Research Centre (SRC), University of the West Indies continues to monitor activities at the Kick ‘em Jenny under water Volcano just off Grenada and provide updates and reports to the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA).

During the night of Thursday July 23rd, 2015, the SRC has recorded events in the Kick ‘em Jenny area which indicate that there was a second small eruption, following the first one recorded during the night of July 22nd.

Seismic activities continue in the area and residents in the north of Grenada will continue to experience very low magnitude tremors.

The Orange alert remains in effect, and therefore means that all ships must strictly observe the five kilometer exclusion zone of Kick ‘em Jenny.

It should be noted that the undersea volcano remains well below the surface, which cancels out any threat of a major tsunami.

Please note that there is no need for panic, and people should go about their daily lives as normal. The official advisories on the matter, when needed, will come from the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA).

NaDMA will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to the general population.
