PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport & Telecommunications Hon. Claret Connor recently met with Boxing Promoter of B.O.S.E. Promotion Milton “Bobby” Ottley regarding the upcoming PRO-AM Boxing Event “Eruption in Paradise” which is scheduled for July 4th.

Sports tourism is a significant element in world tourism, and has become highly competitive niche business for various tourism destinations.  As interest and participation in sport grows within the leisure industry, the desire of people to travel to compete or to spectate has grown and will continue to grow.

“I would like to congratulate Milton Ottley on his upcoming boxing event and wish him much success.  With different boxers from within the region participating, the event should attract supporters from the surrounding islands.  I commend the promoter for taking the initiative in organizing this regional sports tourism event,” Minister of Tourism Hon. Claret Connor said on Wednesday.

The L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium will come alive on July 4 when B.O.S.E. Promotion presents 42 rounds of boxing.

In the male division, Sint Maarten’s own Sidney Maccow, Tija Stanley from St. Kitts, Claude Lesperance, Mikeal Merlin, and many more from Aruba and the Dominican Republic will be on hand.

I.B.F. Intercontinental Bantamweight World Title features French national champion Karim Guerfi vs Mexican Javier Franco.  I.B.O. female world title, featuring Sonya Lamonakis from Greece vs Gwendolyn O’Neil.
