SINT MAARTEN — Milton Peters College (MPC) has once again been crowned champion of the 2026 5-on-5  Interscholastic High School Basketball League, hosted by the PSA Athletics Association,  after defeating CBA 51–44 in the championship game.

The second annual league ran from September 1 to October 17, bringing together all ten high  schools on Dutch Sint Maarten. The competition provided student athletes with opportunities  to showcase their talent, strengthen their basketball skills, and develop teamwork and  sportsmanship while representing their schools.

Weekly matchups culminated in an intense final stretch of competition, with postseason  games held on October 14, 15, and 17. The demanding schedule challenged players to push  themselves, demonstrating determination and resilience as they competed for the  championship.

MPC secured the title with its 51–44 victory over CBA, while St. Maarten Academy’s  academic team claimed third place after defeating St. Maarten Academy’s vocational team  (VBC) 60–51.

MPC’s Terrell Richards was named the league’s Most Valuable Player and also finished as  its leading scorer. The individual statistical leaders were:

  • Block Leader: Sean Ferrol (CBA) — 9 blocks
  • Assist Leader: Miguel DeWeever (St. Maarten Academy) — 49 assists • Steal Leader: Elijah Vicente (VBC) — 33 steals
  • Rebound Leader: Dominic Peters (VBC) — 73 rebounds
  • Point Leader: Terrell Richards (MPC) — 173 points

The PSA Athletics Association extends its sincere appreciation to all participating schools,  student athletes, and the individuals who volunteered their time to coach and support the  teams. Their commitment contributed to the success of the league and the continued  development of school basketball on Sint Maarten.

Looking ahead to next season, PSA encourages more community members to volunteer as  coaches for schools in need of support and to attend games to cheer on the schools and their  student athletes. A strong community presence in the stands helps motivate young players  while fostering school spirit, a sense of belonging, and pride in representing their schools.  The association also invites businesses and individuals to sponsor team uniforms, with the  goal of ensuring that every participating school competes in matching basketball uniforms  next year. Interested sponsors are encouraged to contact PSA so the association can  coordinate support with the schools.

With the high school season now complete, PSA will turn its attention to the upcoming  elementary school basketball league. Further details regarding the game schedule and venue  will be announced through the association’s social media pages: Performance Sports  Academy-SXM on Facebook and @performance_sports_academy_sxm on Instagram.
