SINT EUSTATIUS — On Sunday, the 1st of November, at around 8:35 PM, the central control room received a report of a collision between two cars near the Big Stone on Welfare Road on Sint Eustatius.

Following the collision, the other driver involved fled the scene. Upon arrival, the police immediately launched an investigation to trace the hit-and-run driver. Short time later, the vehicle of the other party was located on Peru Road, where it had ended up in a ravine. In accordance with the ‘botsen is blazen’ policy, a breathalyzer test was administered to the driver.

The test indicated that he had consumed more alcohol than the legally permitted limit. The 65-year-old man with the initials Z.C. was arrested and transported to the police station for a breath analysis. The suspect was issued a 5-hour driving ban, and a official police report was filed.
