Law firm supports the seventh year of Rotary Sunset’s initiative at Marie Genevieve de Weever School
PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten — A nutritious breakfast can make all the difference in a child’s school day. For seven years, the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset has worked alongside Marie Genevieve de Weever School to help ensure that hunger does not stand in the way of learning. This year marks an important milestone as Brooks & Associates becomes the program’s first corporate sponsor.
The breakfast program provides meals to students identified by the school’s Care Team as vulnerable students who would benefit from the support. This approach helps ensure that students can begin their school day nourished, focused, and ready to learn, while respecting their privacy and dignity. Beyond meeting an immediate need, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to supporting children’s educational journeys and investing in their future.
The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at the Brooks & Associates office, in the presence of Rotary Sunset President Jade Maccow, Marie Genevieve de Weever School Manager Larisa Theodore, and Brenda Brooks, Senior Attorney at Brooks & Associates.
As a law firm, Brooks & Associates supports initiatives focused on education, sport, and youth development. For Brooks, the decision to support the program also carries a personal connection to her own primary school days, when she looked forward to receiving breakfast at school.
“I remember looking forward to receiving my sandwich and milk at school, and every so often we would get the Pink Nesquik. Those simple moments of care stayed with me, and today it is meaningful to help create those moments for another generation. Investing in our young people is investing in the future of our community.”
Brooks & Associates has committed to supporting the program during the current school year and into the future, helping strengthen the sustainability of an initiative that has served MGDW students for seven years.
For Marie Genevieve de Weever School, the continued program provides valuable support to students and their families. School Manager Larisa Theodore emphasized the importance of nourishment in preparing children for a productive day in the classroom.

Rotary Sunset President Jade Maccow welcomed the partnership as an important milestone in the program’s seven-year journey.
