THE HAGUE — King Willem-Alexander has received the governors of Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten in an audience at Palace Huis ten Bosch this week for talks on recent developments in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.
On Wednesday morning, 16 September, His Majesty received His Excellency M. de Kort, Governor of Curaçao. On Thursday morning, 17 September, he successively received His Excellency J.A. Boekhoudt, Governor of Aruba, and His Excellency A.G. Baly, Governor of Sint Maarten.
The King regularly receives officials from the Caribbean part of the Kingdom to be briefed on current affairs. That part of the Kingdom comprises Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and the Caribbean Netherlands. The Caribbean Netherlands consists of the public bodies of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba.
The three governors represent the King in their respective countries and serve as heads of government there, while also acting as Kingdom organs. Audiences of this kind form part of the regular contact between the monarch and the Caribbean countries of the Kingdom.
