As part of its ongoing efforts to further enhance customer satisfaction among the millions of visitors who travel to St. Maarten each year, the St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association (SHTA), in conjunction with EHP International, has opened enrollment for the fifth edition of the SHTA Academy – Customer Service.

The foundation of this program is the principle that excellent customer service is key to elevating the overall quality of both the customer and visitor experience. It encourages customers to return to shops and offices, visitors to return to hotels, activities, and excursions, increases appreciation for the destination and visitor spending, and, last but not least, provides service providers with opportunities to earn additional tips.

The courses are delivered by former SHTA President Liesa Euton and Raju Sajnani, a customer service trainer who has worked with high-end tourism companies across the globe. This is the fifth time the weeklong series has been offered since its launch in 2024. The program encompasses two levels of customer service training, as well as courses in sales, supervision, conflict management, and business etiquette.

Euton states: “In today’s business world, high-quality customer service plays a crucial role in the success and stability of every business, at every level and across sectors.”

SHTA not only invites its member companies, which collectively represent more than half of the island’s economic output, to participate in the trainings, but also welcomes any customer-facing organization, large or small, to take part at a nonprofit-level fee. The initiative is intended to contribute to the national effort to strengthen St. Maarten’s “business card.

Courses will be held from October 19 through November 5. Interested parties can contact the SHTA Academy at info@shta.com.
