157

SINT MAARTEN — The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) is alerting the public to a fraudulent message currently circulating that falsely claims to originate from the Traffic Police regarding an alleged unpaid traffic fine.

The message contains a link directing recipients to a fraudulent website designed to impersonate the Public Prosecutor’s Office (Openbaar Ministerie). The message uses a false 48-hour payment deadline and threats of additional fines to pressure recipients into responding.

KPSM urges the public:

Do not click on the link;
– Do not make any payment;
– Do not enter personal or banking information;
– Do not reply “Ja” or otherwise respond to the message.

Anyone receiving this fraudulent message is advised to delete it immediately and not engage with the sender.

KPSM urges the public to remain vigilant and to share this warning with family, friends, and colleagues to help prevent others from falling victim to this scam.
