HARBOUR VIEW, PHILIPSBURG – Today Tuesday September 1, 2026, the Cabinet of the Governor of Sint Maarten launched its new website, providing clear and accessible information about the Governor, the Cabinet, which serves as the administrative organization supporting the Governor, and the services offered by the Department of Consular Affairs.

The English-language website is available at www.governorsintmaarten.com, while the Dutch-language version can be accessed at www.gouverneursintmaarten.com.

Visitors to the website can learn more about the current Governor, the Acting Governor and the former Governor(s) and Acting Governor(s) of Sint Maarten, as well as those of the former Netherlands Antilles. The website also provides information on the Governor’s background, duties and constitutional powers, the official flag, and matters of protocol. In addition, the site will be updated regularly with news, speeches and other official communications from the Governor.

The website also offers detailed information on the consular services provided by the Department of Consular Affairs. These include requirements for acquiring Dutch nationality, obtaining passports, emergency travel documents and visas. Each service is accompanied by clear guidance on the application process.

A significant new feature of the website is an integrated decision tree designed to assist individuals in determining whether they may be eligible for Dutch nationality. By answering a series of questions, users can quickly assess their eligibility. Where the results indicate that a person may qualify, they are provided with an overview of the required supporting documents and can schedule a first appointment online. The decision tree is intended to help applicants prepare more effectively in advance, enabling a smoother and more efficient application process.

The new website has been developed on the Dutch Government’s digital platform and complies with European standards for digital accessibility. The launch of the website, together with the introduction of the decision tree, forms part of a broader initiative to further digitalize and improve access to the services of the Cabinet of the Governor.

The website will continue to be expanded and enhanced with additional information and practical digital tools. Members of the public are encouraged to visit the website regularly to stay informed of the latest updates and services available.
