International Cooperation Leads to Successful Apprehension and Extradition
PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) announces the arrest and extradition of a suspect connected to a fatal shooting that occurred on Aron Jacobs Drive in Cay Bay on January 26th, 2025.
On that date at approximately 8:00 AM, the Police Dispatch received multiple reports of a shooting in the vicinity of Aron Jacobs Drive. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a young male victim who had tragically lost his life as a result of the shooting.
During the course of the investigation, detectives identified a suspect, with the initials J.J., believed to be involved in this incident. The suspect subsequently fled to the French Side of the island, where he was later apprehended by authorities.
Following established legal procedures, an extradition request was issued to return the suspect to Dutch Sint Maarten to stand trial for his involvement in this incident. Through the collaborative efforts of the French Judicial System, INTERPOL, and with input from the St. Kitts and Nevis Royal Police Force, the suspect was successfully brought back to Sint Maarten on January 20th, 2026.

This case exemplifies the strengthening partnership between KPSM and INTERPOL, built through collaborative efforts in working together on international notices and enhanced cooperation with other countries in the region and around the world. Such partnerships are essential in ensuring that suspects cannot evade justice by crossing borders. The investigation remains ongoing.
