Sint Eustatius — In the afternoon hours of Sunday, the 20th of September, a planned traffic control was held on the Oranjebaaiweg on Sint Eustatius. During the control, a total of 9 vehicles were checked, resulting in three fines being issued.
The fines were issued for the following violations:
1x for not wearing a seatbelt;
2x for driving without a valid driver’s license.
On Friday, the 18th of September, the police also carried out a traffic control on Fort Oranjestraat on St. Eustatius. During this control, 2 vehicles were checked. Both drivers received a fine for not wearing a seatbelt and for driving without a valid driver’s license.
In the morning hours of Friday, the 18th of September, the police conducted another traffic control on Father Van Tefelenweg on St. Eustatius. During this control, sixteen (16) cars were checked, resulting in 8 fines being issued.
The fines were issued for the following violations:
3x for not wearing a seatbelt;
2x for driving without paid road tax;
2x for driving without valid insurance;
1x for driving without a valid driver’s license.
The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) reminds everyone that, pursuant to Article 82, Paragraph 1, Sub F of the Sint Eustatius Road Traffic Ordinance 2022 (Wegenverkeersverordening Sint Eustatius 2022), both the driver and passengers of a motor vehicle are required to wear a seatbelt.
The police will continue to conduct traffic checks to enforce compliance with traffic regulations.
