SINT MAARTEN — The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) is actively investigating an incident involving several students that took place on L.B. Scott Road on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, near the bus stop by the Academy.
A video of the incident has been circulating widely on social media and shows a minor being physically assaulted by several other students. KPSM became aware of the video and immediately took action to identify those involved and address the situation.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the first suspect was brought to the police station on Thursday morning, September 3, 2026, by one of his parents. Following questioning regarding his alleged involvement in the incident, the suspect was arrested and incarcerated pending further investigation.
Earlier Thursday afternoon, the parents of a second suspect brought the minor to the police station. The second suspect was subsequently arrested and is currently being questioned by officers of the Juvenile Department regarding his alleged involvement in the incident.
KPSM’s Community Officers have also contacted the respective schools attended by the students involved and informed them of the ongoing investigation.
The investigation into the involvement of the other individuals seen in the video remains ongoing. KPSM is taking the necessary steps to identify and locate all persons involved.
This Behavior Will Not Be Tolerated
KPSM wants to make it clear that violence and the deliberate mistreatment of another student are unacceptable and will not be ignored. Incidents of this nature, regardless of where they occur or whether they are recorded and shared on social media, will be taken seriously and dealt with accordingly.
KPSM is also reminding students that participating in violence, encouraging others to engage in violence, or recording and distributing such incidents can have serious consequences.
KPSM is once again appealing to parents and guardians to have open and serious conversations with their children about their behavior, the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully, and the consequences of becoming involved in violence. Parents and guardians are urged to take an active role in addressing aggressive or threatening behavior before situations escalate.
The Police of Sint Maarten will continue to take incidents involving violence among students seriously and will take appropriate action whenever necessary to protect the safety and well-being of our young people.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests or actions may follow as more information becomes available.
