SINT MAARTEN — The nomination for the appointment of Mr. Perry F.M. Geerlings as a new member of the Boards of Financial Supervision for Curaçao and Sint Maarten (Cft) has been approved by the Kingdom Council of Ministers. Mr. Geerlings becomes a member of the Boards on the nomination of the country of Sint Maarten. The appointment takes effect as of the 1st of October and is for a period of three years.
Currently Mr. Geerlings is member of the Corporate Governance Council of Sint Maarten, an independent advisory council that supervises good corporate governance of state-owned companies and foundations. Among other roles, he previously served as the minister of Finance of Sint Maarten, member of the parliament of Sint Maarten and director of the cabinet of the plenipotentiary minister of Sint Maarten. Mr. Geerlings held various positions in the financial sector.
Mr. Geerlings succeeds the current member of Cft on behalf of Sint Maarten, Ms. Julisa Frans, who has been honorably discharged as of the 1st of October.
The Boards of Financial Supervision are independent and monitor the soundness of the public finances of the countries Curaçao and Sint Maarten. The Boards has a signaling and advisory role.
