Nearly 60 Participants Join Musical Theatre Fundraiser for FREEGAN Foundation

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – Nearly 60 people have registered for a special series of musical theatre workshops taking place in the Netherlands this September to raise funds for FREEGAN foundation on Sint Maarten.

A group of experienced musical theatre performers, teachers and coaches is donating its time and expertise entirely free of charge. This means that all proceeds from the six workshops will directly benefit FREEGAN foundation and its work supporting families on Sint Maarten.

The three-hour workshops are being held in Houten,  Den Bosch, Uithoorn and Lijnden and cover a wide range of disciplines, including burlesque, musical theatre, song interpretation, backing vocals, vocal coaching and performance coaching.

The series begins on September 4 with a sold-out burlesque workshop in Den Bosch, taught by Elles de Graaf. On September 5, Myra and FREEGAN co-founder and Managing Director DJ Jansen de Jong will present “A Musical in Three Hours” in Uithoorn.

A sold-out song interpretation workshop led by Vincent de Lusenet follows on September 6. The performance coaching workshop with Ivo and Patricia on September 13 is also fully booked.

The final two workshops will take place on September 20. DJ Jansen de Jong will lead the vocal coaching workshop “Singing from the Heart” in Uithoorn, while Harold and Louisa will teach backing vocals in Lijnden.

With nearly 60 registrations and three of the six workshops already sold out, the fundraising initiative has received an overwhelming response.

“I am incredibly touched by the generosity of all these wonderful teachers and by the enthusiasm of everyone who registered,” said DJ Jansen de Jong. “The teachers are not only sharing their professional knowledge and experience, but are also giving their time completely voluntarily. Nearly 60 people have now signed up, and every one of them is directly contributing to our work with families on Sint Maarten. It is beautiful to see people in the Netherlands using their love for musical theatre to make a difference across the ocean.”

FREEGAN foundation operates a client-choice food market on Sint Maarten and combines practical food assistance with coaching, education and other forms of support. Its aim is not only to help families meet their immediate needs, but also to strengthen their confidence, independence and long-term resilience.

The Musical Theatre Fundraiser Workshops demonstrate how creativity, generosity and solidarity can connect communities in the Netherlands and Sint Maarten.
