ARUBA ** UPDATE ** — On Sunday afternoon, November 30, the Maritime Operations Center of the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard received a report of a missing person at sea. The individual had departed on a jet ski around 3:00 p.m. from Fisherman’s Hut and had not returned.
The missing person is a 21-year-old man who is a foreign national living in Aruba. A Metal Shark unit was immediately deployed to search the area, supported by the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard helicopter as well as a Royal Netherlands Navy helicopter.
The Royal Netherlands Navy helicopter located the jet ski approximately five miles off the coast, but no one was found on board. The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard Dash 8 aircraft will continue assisting with the search throughout the evening.
