PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten (TBO) — On Wednesday, January 16, 2019, the Anti-corruption Taskforce (TBO) of the Special Police Taskforce (RST) detained suspect S. on St. Maarten.

S, 48 years old, is the chief of security of Princess Juliana International Airport and is suspected of accepting bribes, money laundering and complicity in violation of the duty to register foreign exchange.

Suspect has accepted on two separate occasions 5000 US dollars in return for Illegally assisting the entry of a large sum of money and a quantity of precious stones.

The judge granted an order of detention on Friday January 18 2019 ans S. remains in pre-trial detention in Point Blanche. Given his position, the judge found that the legal order was seriously shocked by the actions of the suspect.
