POND ISLAND, Sint Maarten — The University of St. Martin (USM), assisted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth, and Sport with the recent MOU, will open to the general public as of Monday, January 8th, 2018 and the 10 week semester for the continuing students will kick off as of Monday, January 15th, 2018 and end on Monday, April 9th, 2018.
The team at USM will all be back in office and open to the general public as of Monday, January 8th, 2018. The plan for the remaining terms in this academic year is to have two 10-weeks semesters for Spring and Summer which will allow students who were scheduled to graduate to still be able to do so. The first semester classes will kick off as of Monday, January 15th, 2018 and end on Monday, April 9th, 2018. Registration for students who were enrolled in Fall 2017 has already started. These students have already received an email from the Registrar team with guidelines for re-registering and they are encouraged to reply to the Registrar indicating their interest in continuing and the courses they wish to continue with in Spring 2018.
The second semester is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 7th, 2018 and end on July 28th, 2018. Graduation is expected to be held in August prior to the start of the Fall 2018 semester scheduled to begin on August 20th , 2018.For those who may not have received an email registration can be done at the office during the week of January 8.
New students who may be interested in applying for the semester can start applying as early as January 3rd, 2018 by downloading or submitting an online application form on www.usm.sx
New application forms can also be dropped off at the USM campus as of January 3rd, 2018. For those who are applying for the first time, they are encouraged to submit the completed application form, a copy of their highest academic diploma, a copy of valid ID, registration form, 2 passport pictures and the application fee of $25. Pre-USM classes will resume as of Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 and the GED classes will recommence as of Monday, January 15th, 2018. Students are encouraged to contact their respective division coordinators for further details on the scheduling of classes.
The management and Board of Directors would also like to gather with the student and Faculty for a Welcome Back celebration to make a toast on the way forward after not only salvaging the University and honoring them for their kind patience, commitment and strength throughout the difficult times they all faced.
