PORT ST. MAARTEN – On June 7, 2017, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Port St. Maarten Group of Companies, Mr. Mingo, was detained by the justice authorities in connection with the Emerald investigation.

In order to ensure continuous management of the Port, the Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunication, Mrs. Arrindell-Doncher, has appointed Messr. Van Kooten and Van der Mark as the Port’s caretakers during the CEO’s absence.

By order of the Public Prosecutor Mr. Mingo was released of his pre-trial detentions on June 28, 2017 and all his restrictions have been lifted.

In close consultations with the supervisory board of the Port, Mr. Mingo will take a short leave of absence allowing him to reunite with his family.

The supervisory board will have subsequent consultations with Mr. Mingo upon his return to address the further developments.  The shareholder representative has also been advised of the latest developments.

Mr. Mingo strongly denies to have committed any criminal offence and has full confidence in the outcome of the pending investigations.
