GREAT BAY – Justice Minister Rafael Boasman has asked the attorneys for the Inmates Association to stay in touch and to monitor the progress of the improvements the ministry is implementing at the Pointe Blanche prison.

Minister Boasman expressed regrets yesterday that the court did not go along with a proposal to postpone the injunction brought by the Inmates Association against the country for three months.

“We started already tasking measures,” the minister said.

“The judge has now asked us to come up with a plan and a timeline within two weeks. This is not a major issue, because we started already on most of the issues the Inmates Association demands. We were not waiting for a judge telling us to do so. This concerns all of us and we have to work together to get these issues solved instead of fighting each other.”
