PHILIPSBURG – Today, Sunday, November 13, marks the beginning of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), where more than 150 countries celebrate entrepreneurship and host activities to build awareness as well as create opportunities for entrepreneurs to start and brow their businesses.
Through the participation of Foundation INFOBIZZ, St. Maarten has participated in this global movement in 2013 and 2014. Other countries throughout the region are hosting a variety of symposiums, networking events, and start-up competitions to commemorate GEW.
Since its revamp in 2013, INFOBIZZ, a non-profit business support organization, has been able to influence more than 1,000 entrepreneurs and professionals through its premier networking event POWER HOUR, its international annual experience DOMINATE 360 and its participation in Global Entrepreneurship.
Recently, INFOBIZZ has focused much of its efforts to better support both women and youth in their quest to become successful entrepreneurial leaders. Among the activities that will be held this week are the Youth Entrepreneurship Experience, which will be held at St. Maarten Academy PSVE.
Both local and international will help to inspire and empower over 80 youth to develop their entrepreneurial skills. Among these local entrepreneurs are Michelle Christian of Glamaty, a hair care and make-up line; Red Eye Crew, a leading entertainment group, and John Sandiford, who is based in the Netherlands and has a digital media firm.
Also happening this week, on November 17-19, is DOMINATE 360, which is described as the #1 Entrepreneurial Getaway in the Caribbean. Open to both start-ups and seasoned entrepreneurs and leaders, DOMINATE 360 brings together international, regional, and local speakers to share best-practices and provide cutting edge tools for the 21st century entrepreneur.
The tools and information can be used for both personal and professional development and come from topics such as leadership, productivity, branding, intellectual property, finance to name a few.
These both are held to better equip people to be entrepreneurial, achieve unparalleled success, and to positively contribute to St. Maarten’s economy. Having these activities during the Global Entrepreneurship Week, includes St. Maarten in the global discussion of how to best support the backbone of any economy – the entrepreneur.
INFOBIZZ thanks the community for its support so and expresses optimism for economy and future of St. Maarten. Members of the community are encouraged to reach out to INFOBIZZ if they would like to contribute to the support and growth of entrepreneurs, especially women and youth.
