Minister Arrindell calls on Local Producers to Register for Two-day Standards Workshop

GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) – In an effort to support entrepreneurs active in manufacturing and producing on St. Maarten, the Department of Economy, Transportation and Telecommunication (EVT) that falls under the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Traffic and Telecommunications, will be hosting a free two-day interactive standardization workshop on Monday September 5th and Tuesday September 6th.

Minister of Tourism & Economic Affairs Ingrid Arrindell, is encouraging entrepreneurs to register for the aforementioned workshop which would benefit them in their business activity and only further improve their services and products that they offer for sale to consumers.

The aforementioned workshop is for existing and future entrepreneurs. The ministry has taken note of the increase in locally produced food and cosmetic products.

The workshop is to support the aforementioned entrepreneurs by assisting them in developing their abilities to meet standards requirements which in turn can increase their sales and export potential.

During the workshops, presenters will introduce entrepreneurs to the general benefits of meeting industry standards which include increased consumer confidence, greater market access to other countries and higher revenue.

From this workshop, EVT hopes to identify and assist, with the support of the European Union funded COSME Programme, entrepreneurs who wish to improve their products to appeal to wider audiences and increase sales and revenues.
