Message from the Island Governor St. Eustatius

Alida Francis Island Governor of Sint Eustatius

Sint Eustatius — While St. Eustatius is geographically further removed from the current tensions in the region, the Office of the Island Governor recognizes that such developments may raise concerns and could have implications for our island. The Office of the Island Governor, responsible for public order and safety, therefore advises that developments in and around Venezuela are being closely monitored in coordination with the National Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Earlier Saturday January 3rd, 2026, Alida Francis Island Governor of Sint Eustatius and the Crisis Coordinator met with the Dutch Caribbean crisis teams, the Kingdom Representative, and the Ministry of Defense to review the situation and ensure preparedness.

Our priorities remain medical evacuation and public order and safety. The helicopter remains available for medical evacuation, and arrangements are in place to ensure access to emergency and second line care if required. Public order and daily life remain unaffected.

At this time, the primary point of attention relates to medical evacuation beyond St. Maarten, which is being closely addressed by the St. Eustatius Health Care Foundation, the Health Insurance Office, and Statia Government.

Residents and travelers are encouraged to rely on official airline and airport communications for flight related information and to avoid sharing unverified reports. Further updates will be shared through official channels as necessary.
